| Calligraphy; the Art of Beautiful Writing
With Maggie Salter
In my course I will teach two calligraphy scripts, Foundational Hand and Uncial Hand, both lovely scripts. The course covers Calligraphy terminology and demonstration of different types of calligraphy pens and use of inks, paper, etc. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice these scripts and to try different embellishments to enhance your calligraphy. I have a good resource library and plenty of examples to give students ideas and inspiration. Included in the course are excellent handouts and guide sheets. The course will be relaxed and in a friendly environment and my aim is to ensure the course is enjoyable and fun! Needs list on enrolment. (Max 4). BYO lunch.

Bring your own pattern or use a pattern provided by the tutor for your creation for the apron or create a Christmas Countdown Calendar as Counting down to Christmas is an old time tradition that is still a favourite of children and adults alike. Writing Classes with Kyla-Jayne
Write Yourself Free – Begin Again
This workshop is for the writer who doesn’t write and the one who doesn’t know they can. It aims to re-ignite the desire to write or to inspire the writing voice that was once stifled. Within a supportive and encouraging environment you’ll engage with your writing voice as it begins to resurface through a series of writing exercises. Bring pen, paper, pencil, journal, lucky hat; whatever you need to begin again. (Max 8)

Write Your First Draft
This course will set you on your way if you want to write the first draft of a short story, or the beginning chapter of a novel, biography, memoir or non-fiction book. We’ll look at the basic fundamentals of craft and style, including character, setting, plot, tense and point of view. As the aim of the course is to achieve a writing goal, you’ll have the opportunity to read aloud your completed piece on the last day. (Max 8)

Rewrite, Edit, Polish & Send You’re a genius! You’ve written your first draft and nothing can stop you - except your first rejection letter. Receiving rejection is a constructive aspect of the writing process that enables you to sharpen your work. This two-part workshop gives you the tools to stand back from the first draft and objectively shape your story into a finished product. We’ll also cover aspects of the publishing process. Bring a story you’d like to work on, along with a positive attitude. The Poet in You
This course aims to enlighten the poet with in and expose you to a broad range of poetic styles and forms by listening to the sounds of poetry. We’ll begin with an Old English alliterative poem and journey through fixed forms into free verse. Emphasis will be made on listening while watching for metaphor, imagery and rich language. This will be a fun course; come prepared to be encouraged to write and read your poems aloud. Food Gardening & Organics
Discover the excitement of growing your own food. You will know where the food comes from, how it has been cared for and how old it is. This is a great activity which costs little and makes use of existing land. We will sow seeds, prick out seedlings, discuss organics and share a meal with ingredients from the garden. Bring your own containers to plant seed, such as yoghurt, butter and margarine pots. Also bring your own seed growing mix and seeds or bring some coins to buy from tutor. Plus $1.00 for course notes.
